SURGICAL PATIENTS

PRIOR TO YOUR SURGERY DATE

Dr. Alex Brooks-Hill and Dr. Sally Clark perform urgent and elective surgeries at Squamish General Hospital. Once you have consented to surgery with our Surgeons you will be added to our waitlist and we will contact you as soon as we have a date available for you. You will be contacted by us the day before to confirm what time to arrive at the Hospital. Generally, you will check in at the admitting desk 2 hours prior to your scheduled surgery time.

When you have been scheduled for elective surgery, ten days prior to your surgery stop taking any anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or supplements including Vitamin E, ginger, ginseng, turmeric or gingko biloba. If you are unsure if you are on any of these products, please contact our office for reference. Commonly used drugs include, but are not limited to: Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Robaxacet, Celebrex, Naproxen, brand name Bayer products, aspirin, Cold-Fx. These products cause your blood to thin and make it difficult to see during surgery.

There are many products that have anti-inflammatory properties please call our office at (604) 905-4075 if you have any questions about the type of products included on the list.

For further information please download the pre-op information sheet here:
