DR. JENNY TURNER

Consulting Sports Medicine Physician
MBBS, MSc Sports Med, MSc Musculoskeletal U/S

Dr. Jenny Turner is a founding fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine UK. She did her Undergraduate training at the University of London and then a Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine at the London Hospital in 1995 after an inspiring season as a ski doctor in Mount Buller Australia. Her postgraduate training included rotations in Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, Rheumatology and Metabolic Bone Disease at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London. She completed a second Masters in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound at Bournemouth University in 2015, enabling her to expand the options available to her patients to diagnostic ultrasound as well as a variety of ultrasound guided injections including Platelet Rich Plasma and high-volume image guided injections. She has considerable experience in the use of shockwave therapy and more recently she has developed an interest in treating partial tendon tears, tendinopathy and osteoarthritis with PRP.

Throughout her career she has worked with a variety of different sports including the GB Women’s Hockey team, the Lawn Tennis Association, the London and Mount Everest marathons, the European Youth Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics (as venue sports medicine doctor for sailing and Windsurfing). She has worked most of her professional life as a Family Practitioner in Guernsey where she was the musculoskeletal lead of a large general practice for the last 24 years. During this time has supported both Guernsey Commonwealth and Island Games athletes as well as an army of weekend warriors, gardeners, and physically inactive patients with musculoskeletal problems. She enjoys helping her patients to reach their own individual goals, whatever they may be, from elite competition to maintaining activity into old age.

Dr. Turner was licensed by the Medical Counsel of Canada in 2022 and became a member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. She obtained her full registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia in 2023 and is also a member of the Canadian Academy of Sports and Exercise Medicine.

She moved to Whistler in 2023 and is excited to be able to offer her expertise to patients in the Sea to Sky corridor. She is working in both our Whistler and Squamish offices to provide both Intake and Sports Medicine services. She can offer a variety of ultrasound guided injections of corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid and prolotherapy as well as developing a Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injection service for our patients.

Her interest in Sports Medicine was triggered by a lifelong love of sports and she is happy to be in a community of likeminded people and looking forward to the challenge of keeping everyone up on the mountain or on their bike for as long as possible.
