The Whistler Health Care Centre Fracture Clinic is administered by Vancouver Coastal Health. Dr. Brooks-Hill initiated the fracture clinic in 2007 when she realized the need for local urgent orthopaedic care in the Sea to Sky Corridor. The fracture clinic provides urgent orthopaedic assessment in Whistler. Our goal at Sea to Sky Orthopaedics is to develop a similar clinic in Squamish with dedicated operating room time at Squamish General Hospital for urgent orthopaedic surgery.

A physician referral is required by the British Columbia medical services plan to see an Orthopaedic Specialist. Any physician may fax a referral on behalf of a patient to the fracture clinic at fax number (604) 932-4992.  A Whistler Health Care Centre admitting staff member will call referred patients directly with an appointment time.

If you have not received an appointment in a timely manner then please call:

• Your referring doctor’s office, or
• The Whistler Health Care Centre Fracture Clinic Hotline at (604)932-4911 you will need to wait for a prompt and press #4534. Please listen for the details of the next clinic and leave a voice mail about your need for an appointment.

Your care will be coordinated by the Orthopaedic Technician, Ross Hopper. Due to the complexity of care offered in the fracture clinic, we cannot accurately predict the length of your visit. Please bring a book or project to occupy your time in the waiting area. Please allow 2-6 hours of your time for your appointment.

» Please bring with you to each appointment:

• Health card
• Details of any other personal/private medical coverage plans
• Sleeveless shirt for upper body examinations/Shorts for lower body examinations
• Updated personal information ie. phone number, address, name of family doctor etc.
• Films, CD copies of images or reports for any tests taken relating to your current physical condition (please note that the actual images are required in addition to the reports).
• List of medications including vitamins, supplements etc. (if applicable)
• Translator, if necessary. (medical terminology may be used and fluent English or French is required)

Currently, the Whistler Health Care Centre Fracture Clinic is the only local urgent orthopaedic clinic in the corridor. Sea to Sky Orthopaedics has and will continue to lobby for Vancouver Coastal Health to support a similar fracture clinic at Squamish General Hospital.

Orthopaedic Devices
Devices may be purchased through the Whistler Health Care Centre Fracture Clinic program. Proceeds from these devices help cover the operational costs of care service provided through Vancouver Coastal Health.  Contact the Whistler Health Care Centre Fracture clinic to set up an appointment for device fitting.
